Sometimes life is fair

SAN DIEGO COUNTY FAIR
Last weekend me and the hubby went to the San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. We were fortunate enough to get free media/ sponsor passes from my good friend (thanks ;)

I love the fair! From the beautiful scenery...
to the delicious food...
I < 3 deep friend food, but deep fried butter or Twinkies is even too much for me
The crazy rides (this one was the worst)....
and of course the shopping < 3
I bought this amazing garlic grater
and my hubby couldn't resist this helicopter-
it's the same kind he works on ;)

I hope you get to enjoy a county fair this summer too!
You can get discount tickets and parking passes on base (or Albertsons), but not at the gate.

Winecraft

I can find inspiration just about anywhere and can also find something to buy pretty much anywhere we go and wine tasting was no exception! I < 3 these cork hotplates and can't wait to make them for our place. All I should need is a cork back, my glue gun and 20 or so corks, and something to cut them in half with- I should have enough corks by the end of the week the way we go through wine around here ;)
I think I need these for our back patio- which hopefully we will have soon, cross your fingers that we get our new house! There will be lots more crafty blogs once I have a workshop again. It looks like they just drilled a hole into the wine bottle and inserted the Christmas lights, I let you know how this turns out once I get my power drill out of storage!

and of course I can't resist the urge to shop no matter where we are! I bought this cute heart locket at one of the wineries for only $10, I < 3 it and have gotten my $10 out of it.

XOXO,
Annie

< 3 Birthdays and Wine < 3

This post is long overdue, my birthday was over a month ago, but with trying to buy a house, find a job, a trip to Vegas and trying to figure out how to download the pics from my new camera- it has just taken forever! I'm not a big birthday person, I have friends who have birthday weeks and birthday months, surprisingly that is not my thing ;) This year however, my husband was home and it was a milestone birthday so I thought we should go and do something fun. I <3 wine tasting and San Diego is just a short drive to the Temecula Wine Country, so that was my birthday destination.

My husband and I
my new Gucci glasses, a birthday present from my auntie (as seen here in black and turquoise)

There are over 30 wineries all with in a close proximity, but driving was def not an option. West Coast Chauffeur and Transportation had the best deal, and believe me I called at least 5 places. Check out their wine tour specials, I bought the wine tasting package and it saved us $15 a person for our tasting, they also offer catering for your picnic lunch. They even gave us a free upgrade from a towncar to an Escalade. The driver and owner Kat was awesome, she knew all about the different wineries and was a big help in deciding which wineries we should visit. I <3'd all of the wineries she helped us pick! I highly recommend this company if you plan to visit Temecula and don't even think about driving we saw a few cops hiding along side of the road!

Our first winery was Longshadow, they have beautiful grounds and if you like port, they have a great one which you can get served inside a chocolate boot!

Next was Wilson Creek Winery, if you haven't tried their Almond Champagne you absolutely must! It is one of my favorite drinks ;) Although if you want to buy some, they sell it much cheaper at Costco and Bevmo than at the winery.

Leonese was our next stop, they have mostly red wines, but had a huge selection of different wines. They just opened a restaurant there, while I didn't get a chance to try it, I heard that it was good. They also have beautiful ground, the picture at the top of my and my hubby was taken on their back patio.

Kenways was our last stop, it was a smaller winery, but very cute and cozy inside. We were running behind so I didn't get to check out there grounds, but they do have a boutique inside with purses and jewelry which I just could't resist. I bough a heart shaped locket for $10, super cute and a great price. A picture of my hubby and puppy will soon be inside of my heart ;) corny I know.

Now that I have figured out my new camera, more posts should be on the way!

I < 3 Mani- Pedis

In Law School me and my friends would go and get mani-pedi's all the time, it was our little way of escaping the stress of studying. Now that pretty much everything I own is in storage and I'm between jobs (sounds so much better than unemployed) I have been giving myself mani-pedis. I found some great new products that I just love and are a must if doing a home mani-pedi. Wow I'm pretty sure I haven't used the word mani-pedi so much ever and it starts to sound strange after awhile ;)

My first essential is any nail kit from Ms. Manicure.
They make a lot of different sets, but I bought this one and it has everything I need.

I found them at Target and the Ralph's, but not all Target's carry them. They can be found at Drugstore.com products and sets from around $2 to $12 and Target has sets for $10.

I also couldn't do my nails without Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish. I discovered it basically by accident the other day at Rite-aid. I just loved the pink color and the cute name- Frutti Petutie.
(it is a bit darker and brighter pink in person)

It is seriously amazing. It has a cool brush shape and lasts forever. I have always had problems with my polish chipping, even OPI (which I still <3) never lasted that long on my nails, but Sally has found a way to make it long lasting. It seriously lasts days longer than any other brand I have tried. The color line is not that extensive, but they have plenty of colors. Rite-aid had them buy one get one half off when I went two days ago, so I had to pick up a few more! Including my new favorite red, All Fired Up. It may soon replace my trade-mark color- OPI's Big Apple Red <3 OK so it probably won't but I totally love it!

I hope you love these products as much as I do.

This post was totally unsolicited, but in case any of the aforementioned companies want to send me free stuff e-mail me for my address ;) Navywifediary@me.com

What's your favorite nail polish?

I < 3 Spa Days- Glen Ivy Hot Springs

I <3 birthdays, especially my own! This year my good friend Heather invited me to Glen Ive Hot Springs Spa in Corona, California. On your birthday you get in for free, a $40 value, luckily I have a birthday twin (Heather and I share the same B-day, in case that wasn't obvious) and we both got in free! While they have offered this deal for years, it is the last year they are doing it so if you haven't been on your B-day now is the time to go.

Birthday Twins

I had never been before, but had an amazing day. Definitely a great birthday. In case you haven't heard of Glen Ivy I will let you in on a little of what goes on there. They have everything from mineral baths (sulfur spas, which smelled horrible), to pools, spas, saunas, club mud, the grotto and a ton of treatments- massages, mani-pedi, facials and wraps. The grotto and any treatments are extra, but the $40 gets you access to everything else. They also have two restaurants, Cafe Sole and Sunflower Sushi. We opted for Cafe Sole, something about sun and sushi didn't seem right to me. It was healthy and delicious and the portions were large and not ridiculously expensive- I had just spend two days at Disneyland so my pricing may have been a bit biased, I will get to that post later.

I wasn't really sure I was going to like Club Mud- a communal red clay mud bath- since I'm kinda picky and a clean freak, but I ended up really enjoyed it! It is a great exfoliating treatment. Basically you smear warm mud all over your body, they recommend not using it on your face and since my skin is sensitive I thought it was best not to chance it, then let it dry in one of the saunas or in the sun. We choose the sauna and it was so much fun! Then they have outdoor showers to wash it off with.

Afterwards we decided we should go to the Grotto, where we received an aloe based moisturizing treatments. They paint your body in the aloe and shea butter mixture and then you head into a sauna to let it moisturize, afterwards you head into a room filled with granite showers and then on to the cool mist chamber to relax. Appointments are now required, but on the uncrowded Tuesday we went on it was not a problem. It does cost extra, $20 from 10 am-12:45 a.m. and $25 from 1-5 p.m. , but I thought it was amazing and I would highly recommend it. It left my skin so soft, I liked it so much I even bought some to take home with me!

Glen Ivy is open from 9:30- 6:00 p.m.
Admission Rates- Rates are per person, must be 16 to enter and 18 to receive treatments

Thanks Heather for a truly relaxing birthday!

My husband and I also spent my birthday weekend in Temecula wine tasting and antiquing. Once I figure out how to get the pictures from my birthday present onto my computer I will post on that as well.

XOXO,
Annie
